Emiliano Ponzi (Reggio Emilia, 1978) lives and works in Milan and is one of the most famous contemporary Italian illustrators. His work is easily recognisable as he uses full colours, contained in elegant and invisible lines. The artist’s works have appeared in magazines, advertising, publishing, children’s books, posters, newspapers and exhibitions.
The artist has been awarded with the Society of Illustrators NY Gold Medal and he has received many other honors in the USA and one of them is for his book covers of Charles Bukowski edited by the Italian brand Feltrinelli. He is one of the most acclaimed illustrators in USA, as he managed to create cover images that convey the poetic sense that is often hardly traceable in Bukowski’s porn-splatter parodies.

Ponzi’s style is recognizable because of the clarity of his representative technique: the communication in the images he makes is straightforward and sometimes playful, as he represents scenes where no decorative element is visible and which are able to produce amused reactions in the viewers. The final outcome is thought-provoking and unpredictable, as he manages to leave undisclosed aspects in his illustrations.

The artist has received various honors, such as Society of illustrators, How magazine, Print magazine, Creative Quarterly, American Illustration, 3×3 book, ADC Youngun Award.
