The artist Mark Jenkins, famous for his provocative and disturbing urban installations, has carried out several projects together with Balenciaga since 2017, when Demna Gvasalia became its artistic director.
Mark Jenkins – sculptures for the New York store
The new shop on Madison Avenue, which opened in 2017, was designed in full industrial style with an original carpet featuring the company’s logo. Three unusual sculptures appeared. Mark Jenkins is the artist behind these original mannequins wearing Balenciaga garments.
Mark Jenkins – Colette, Paris
Also in 2017, Mark Jenkins’s works also appeared in the windows of Paris! The Colette boutique created an exclusive collection with Balenciaga that was worn by Jenkins’ sculptures, Head to Head and Head to Wall.
Mark Jenkins – Balenciaga Track Sneakers
On the occasion of the launch of the Track trainers, designed by Deman Gvasalia for the autumn-winter 2018 collection, Balenciaga commissioned the American artist to create an installation for the Selfridges department store. 18 male and female sculptures in sweatshirts and hoodies with the new Balenciaga Track sneakers on their feet!
