The Wunderkammern gallery is pleased to invite you to the inauguration of the exhibition of Masito and Esa, Characters.
Wunderkammern presents the double solo show of Masito and Esa: Characters for the first time in Italy in the new gallery in Rome.
The two musicians, who over the years have shared stages and walls, have jointly structured this exhibition for Wunderkammern as early as 2020, and today, two years later, they will finally see it realized. Giuseppe Pizzuto, director of Wunderkammern and curator of Characters states that it will be “an exhibition made up of stories. Pieces of music history (John Coltrane and Nirvana) intersect with the personal stories of the life of the two artists (rap and writing). True stories (the icons of music) mix with invented and fantastic stories (the Facciacce and the Sideralis) bringing out the salient features of the humanity of the two artists “.
The works selected for the exhibition seem to interact with each other, almost as if in a dynamic and lively way they establish an exchange of different but interconnected sensations. Esa’s “Facciacce”, which arise from what could appear as a confusion of signs, a chaos of techniques and colors, confront and almost collide with Masito’s “Sideralis” in their illusory linearity and cleanliness. The graphic representation of their thought starts from the perception of the letters which constitutes the first creative moment, the beginning of the artistic transfiguration and therefore evolves in the elaboration of the Facciacce and the Sideralis. These constitute the arrival point for the artists. A “dynamic” arrival point, however, that will perhaps constitute the beginning of a new project.
