Sam3 (Elche, Spain, 1980) is the Spanish street artist among the most incisive in circulation and currently lives and works between Murcia and Madrid. He started in the ‘90s with graffiti, and over time he came to create murals in different countries of the world.
Sam3 street art: between poetry and irony
Sam3 utilizes different artistic techniques, from sculpture to mural art, experimenting as well with stop motion videos and animation. He is known for his large compositions of “shadows”, as he calls them: black and anonymous silhouettes carrying alternative meanings, to be deciphered and appropriated by the community. The simple lines and the monochromatic style of the works provide a strong aesthetical impact, allowing a direct transmission of the message. Moreover, contrasts among the empty and the painted space fully insert the wall surface into the artistic process. Between poetry and irony, his works can hide some provocative and darker connotations, expressing the reality of life; often, they talk about the human condition, seen through the artist’s experience of his international travels.
Most important festivals
His artworks can be seen all around the world; he has participated in many Italian and international festivals, such as Ciudad De Color, in Vigo, Spain (2019), the Boombarstick Festival in Vodnjan, Croatia (2013); the Outdoor Festival in Rome (2012); The Cans Festival Collective in London (2008); the Memorie Urbane Festival in Gaeta (2013) and several editions of the Fame Festival in Grottaglie (2009, 2010, 2011).
